Copyright 1985 by Dave Touvell Disk Labeller is an Applesoft Basic program that reads the directory of a DOS 3.3 diskette and prints up to 42 filenames on a 4" x 1-7/16" label using compressed subscript print mode. The program was written for the Epson MX/FX/RX-80 dot matrix printer, which was a very popular line of printers of the era. Most other parallel printers of the time either used these control codes by default or could be set to use them. All of the printer control codes were defined in one line of the program (line 1340) so that they could be easily changed to make the program work with other printers. The program is very simple to use: just insert a disk in drive 1, press a couple of keys, get a label out of your printer. Disk Labeller was uploaded as freeware to the various BBS's that I frequented at the time, as well as GEnie. |
